RAESFELD ASSOCIATES COMPANY DESCRIPTION Raesfeld Associates is a multi-disciplinary design and construction company, dedicated to the science and art of building. Licensed in Architecture, and General Construction, Raesfeld Associates offers a comprehensive range of design, construction and consulting services. We approach each project with the understanding that we are a service company, dedicated to providing our clients innovative building solutions. As small–midsize General Contractors our mission is to maintain our reputation as a premier commercial/residential contractor. As Architects and Contractors, we do not focus on a particular aesthetic but rather a thorough yet practical approach to developing unique and appropriate solutions to our clients’ visions. Exceptional buildings are the result of good design and construction practices, however in today’s complex building process this focus is lost; our job is to simplify the building process for our clients. Toward this objective the firm is organized into two independent service groups; Raesfeld Associates Consulting and Raesfeld Associates Construction. Raesfeld Associates Consulting: services include Architecture, Planning, Winery/Artisan Food development, and general development coordination. Our experience in master-planning, zoning, land-use entitlements, building permits, and regulatory compliance, supplement the traditional range of architectural and engineering services for single source assistance through the increasingly complex regulatory and development process. Raesfeld Associates Construction: as full service General Contractors positioned to build residential and commercial projects, Raesfeld Associates self performs carpentry related trades. Based on clients need, construction projects are implemented by any of the traditional delivery methods; cost+fee contracts, guaranteed maximum price (GMP) contracts, or hard-bid contracts. Additionally, we offer a range of preconstruction services. Working under one roof, Raesfeld Associates Consulting and Raesfeld Associates Construction routinely provide constructability, cost estimating, technical and code support to each other, providing our clients an uncommon single source service. For a select range of projects Raesfeld Associates combines these services to offer single source Design/Build Services. Project types include; private residences, remodels, commercial, infill development, wineries and artisan food production. Stephen vonRaesfeld Growing up around construction, Steve developed an early interest in architecture and its impact on people’s lives. Soon he developed an interest in understanding the entire building process, from concept to occupancy. These interests greatly influenced his career and approach to architecture. After receiving his Bachelors of Architecture from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 1983, Steve worked in construction before starting his own construction company 1985. Concurrently, he pursued his architectural career working for architects in Marin and Sonoma Counties, becoming licensed in 1988. From 1988 to 1992 Mr. vonRaesfeld was a project manager/staff architect for a large commercial real-estate developer in Sonoma County; expanding his understanding of the development process from site acquisition through occupancy. In 1992 Mr. vonRaesfeld formed the Basin Design Group, a small architectural firm in Petaluma specializing in planning, development, architecture and project management. In 1994 Steve became the Staff Architect & Construction Manager for a large international wine company based in Sonoma County. In this capacity he assisted the real-estate division with acquisition, development and regulatory compliance, while managing all aspects of winery planning, design, permitting and construction. Over the next 13 years, Steve worked on numerous wineries through out California, distribution facilities in Nevada, as well as several offices and residences. Internationally he managed the design and construction of wineries in Argentina, Chile and Italy. The opportunity to work with architects throughout the world became the pivotal inspiration for him to focus on the potential for architecture to improve buildings and the building process. In 2006 Mr. vonRaesfeld became a founding principal of Raesfeld Associates, allowing him to continue providing innovative, thoughtful, designed based solutions to building challenges. Under their Eno-tecture service mark Steve continues to provide innovative winery planning and development services. Paralleling his professional career Steve served as a member of Petaluma’s Planning Commission and Design Review Board, eventually chairing both committees. Steve’s work in regulatory-planning, combined with his architectural/development background give him a unique insight into the entire building process. As the fourth generation of their families living in Petaluma, Steve and his wife are actively involved in their community, spending most of their free time with their two children. Leo vonRaesfeld Mr. vonRaesfeld received a Bachelor’s of Science in Construction Management from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1993. Leo started working as a laborer while still in high school and his only career has been in construction. Over the years Mr. vonRaesfeld has worked in the Residential, Commercial and Highway Heavy Civil sectors of the construction industry as a Laborer, Carpenter, Field Engineer, Superintendent, Quantity Takeoff Specialist, Estimator and Project Manager. During and immediately following college Mr. vonRaesfeld worked for a large Highway Heavy Civil Construction Company in California. During that time he learned principles of detailed quantity takeoffs and Field Engineering. Leo’s experience in Highway Heavy Civil work revealed that he preferred the building construction side of the industry. In 1994 he relocated to Portland Oregon where he took a job as a Field Engineer and Assistant Project Manager for a mid-large size commercial construction company. While in Oregon he gained valuable experience on commercial tenant improvement and new building construction projects, most notably a $20 million dollar new brewing facility for Widmer Brothers Brewery. In late 1996, Mr. vonRaesfeld returned to his native Sonoma County California, where he worked for a local commercial general contractor as a Superintendent, Project Manager and Estimator on low income and student housing, commercial office buildings, and winery commercial construction projects ranging in size from $1 million to $20 million. In 2006 Mr. vonRaesfeld became a founding principal of Raesfeld Associates, to continue his pursuits while further developing his skills and abilities as a company owner. Over the years Mr. vonRaesfeld has gained valuable experience using computer programs designed specifically for the Architectural, Engineering and Construction Industries such as Agtek, Tally Systems, Microsoft Project, Meridian System Prolog Manager, and Autodesk’s CAD. |
